Air Jordan sneakers have been around for a very long time. It is only now that they are more popular well in South Africa that is. We have spotted quite a few of our South African celebrities rocking this brand. Well some have posted pictures of their new babies on Instagram and Twitter.
Air Jordan’s are so hot you just cannot keep it to yourself when you have just purchased a pair.
Know your street fashion, Air Jordan’s these are trending there. If you can afford them and you love sneakers then go get them.
J’s On My Feet …
…J’s On My Feet …
J’s On My Feet …
These are just a few from the female collection; there is actually a wide range of them with all the colours under the rainbow.
My advice if you cannot afford the original Air Jordan’s rather not buy them. Stay away from the ones in downtown jozi streets
…As You Were!!!
She is beautiful, has an amazing petite body and she is a fashionista. Mvulakazi Mandleni is a pretty young lady mostly known as ‘Girly’; she knows the ins and outs of fashion. If you don’t know her better you might think she studied fashion and might be working in the fashion industry. Girly is an IT graduate; she just loves playing around with fashion and keeping up with the fashion trends. This Eastern Cape based fashionista is passionate about fashion and is always dressed elegantly without trying hard; she says she knows her body and knows what looks on her.
She took time out of her busy schedule and did this interview for us. I was so excited when she agreed on doing this. She is one of my facebook friends and every time she posts her #OOTD [Outfit Of The Day] I would be amazed at how she mixes the colours and pattern. One day she’s all glammed up the next she’s all toned down but still looking very fly. You cannot help but notice her and admire her style.
Q: Please define your style to us?
A: I am classically chic; looking pulled-together at all times is a priority for me. That’s why I rely on classic, simple items that don’t require a lot of thought and have a timeless style. My wardrobe staples neutral shades of navy and black. I buy pants and skirts for more options.
Q: When did this interest in fashion and its trends begin?
A: I was fascinated by fashion at a very young age; I used to buy fashion magazines to entertain myself in my teens. When the time came for university to study IT, I opened my eyes even more to the world of fashion.
Q: Are you a fashion designer or personal stylist to anyone?
A: LOL! I am neither a fashion designer nor a fashion stylist to anyone.
Q: Do you get people that ask you for fashion advice?
A: Yes I do.
Q: What advice would you give someone out there who loves fashion trends but cannot afford the expensive clothes?
A: We live in an age where anything goes. Trends are basically the same thing over and over again, in one shape or form. I have learnt a lot about what works on my body shape and what looks terrible. One should go for what they can afford and I promise you, if you know what works on your body shape you will never go wrong.
Q: What are the most must have clothing items for spring going to summer?
A: White, white and White: In all its shades, it is the colour of the season, and not just generally an effective way to lighten up a warm weather wardrobe. From footwear, dresses, tops, vests to jeans.
High-low tops, high-waist errythang, something pastel or mid-toned, something floral, something with lace, something sporty, full bottoms(baggy or slouchy), refined footwear.
There are also trends for summer leather. Think of shorts, jackets, vests, pants, skirts and shell tops, metallic, pattern mixing, peplums, chain handle bags and clutches etc
Q: From your closet which 2 items would you love to wear every day if you could?
A: OMG! Where do I start?! Boyfriend’s jeans and sweat pants
Q: If you were to raid a South African celebrity’s closet who would it be and why?
A: Oh, but this is a tough one. Where do I even begin with so many privileged divas with closets to die for? It would have to be between Uyanda Sibiya- Mbuli , Bonang “it’s your girl B” Matheba, Melody Motha, Tumi Voster, Fundi kumalo, Fezokuhle Zulu, Tshego Manche etc.
Good Lord! The list is endless; do I even need to say why?
Q: Who is your fashion style icon?
A: It has to be the Kardashian sisters; they have an amazing fashion sense.
Q: Mention any 2 items of clothing that you wouldn’t be caught dead in?
A: Army boots, chukka boots and rock boots.
Q: How do you keep up with fashion trends?
A: I buy lots of fashion magazines.
Q: What is it that some females are still rocking and you think they shouldn’t?
A: Leggings worn with shorts
Q: If you were to ask for fashion tips from anyone who would it be and why?
A: Definitely Kim K! Absolutely love how she coordinates her outfits. She is classy! Sexy! Elegant! *universes….do your thang*
Q: What does fashion mean to you, is it about quantity or quality?
A: To me fashion is about both quality and quantity
Q: How many pairs of shoes do you own?
A: I love shoes, so you can just imagine. LOL!
Q: I love the way you accessorise, please share where do you get your accessories from?
A: I buy my accessories everywhere; I don’t have a specific accessory store. If I like it, I go for it.
Q: What is ‘thee’ must have accessory for ladies?
A: A neckpiece of cause ;)
Q: Do you follow male fashion trends, what are the 3 items that males should own for summer?
A: Yes I do. They should have shirts, shorts, sweaters or blazers as they are lighter in summer with a great pair of sunglasses.
Q: For people that would love to keep up with ‘Girly’ how do they go about doing that?
A: Facebook: Mvula Bhelekazi Mandleni

Not only is she a gorgeous lady who is a lover of things all trendy and fashionable. This fashionista is a beauty with brains very smart and easy to talk to. Laodecia has a colourful personality just like her style and shoes. She is such a friendly and loving soul. She’s a true fashionista but with a twist because she follows fashion trends. She is always dressed to the nines and takes a lot of risks when dressing up and she always gets away with it. Laody knows how to dress for her body and has style for decades; " days ain’t got nothing on her". She is that one person that one would always look forward to seeing her the next day just to see what her outfit of the day will be like; what shoes will she be wearing.
Message from Laody to me below:
Sorry I took forever, I haven’t had time to really sit and go through the questionnaire. I thought “Ohh My” but today (Monday 11th November) I decided do to this. Ummm, I must say thanks for a self-realization test; I got to discover a lot about myself writing about ‘Ek’ for a CHANGE. I ended up writing paragraphs instead, that’s how much I enjoyed myself.”
here it goes:
Q : I could just die in your closet, please describe your style to us?
A : I love looking elegantly smart, my style is quite diverse and I dress according to my mood. I enjoy trying new things, very creative. Timeless vintage look Black and Gold combination are also quite stylish and chic. I accessorize with my lovely Stylish, Statement, Chic, Edgy and trendy heels :-) . Also I love statement bags and shades. I can be very girly, feminine; classy you name it, and then tomorrow rock my casual look. As I always say “My personality is just as colourful as my style" :-)
Q: You have a divine collection of heels that I could just never take off if I owned, how many pairs do have?
A: I would be lying, I cannot state hey. I cannot count them even if I tried; it means the house would be in a state. I have heels in every colour so you can imagine.
Q: Where do you get your heels from, are they imported?
A: Let’s start here by singing ‘local is lekker’ :-)
Xogo, Luella, Zoom, Aldo, Castelo, Top Shop, Steve Madden, Europa Arts, Maska, Call it Spring etc
Yup! Most of them are imported.
Office Shoes, Topshop , Urbanog, Bebe, Amiclubwear, Unzee, Schuch, Garage, Barker Shoes, Kandee , letsbuyshoes, Some are custom made, character heels.
Q: Who are your favourite shoe designers?
A: Harajuku heels, Giuseppe Zannoti, Shibuya heels, Kandee, Alexander Mcqueen, River Island, Steve Madden etc. If not the colour then design must be eye catching. I love trendy heels with an edge. :-)
Q: You own quite a number of sneakers too, when do you get to wear them?
A: Uhhhhhm, hard to say, but I do wear sneakers. I fell in love with Reebok studded heels and Puma; I pair them with my lovey tracksuits.
….You know I play soccer as well :-)
Q: Do you always plan your outfits for the next day before going to bed?
A: Nope I don’t, I visualize allot, I dream and play around with ideas. I love keeping up with latest trends, I buy Glamour Magazine, People Magazine, my favourite is Grazia Magazine, it always keeps one updated with the latest trends. I check also few fashion blogs like My Fashion Plate, Fashion Room, Style Is My Thing By Soraya De Carvalho, Kim K, Style Pantry etc. I check a few local sweethearts as well thanks to facebook for the platform now we can keep up, no more last season styles so that’s where I get my style inspirations.
Q: Have you ever considered styling other people?
A: I get a lot of requests, YES! I would love that. I always get carried away on how I could change this to that, I dream allot. I am always looking forward to responding to my facebook inbox`s. I enjoy giving tips and learning from others :-) . I am enjoying the learning curve.
Q: No one pulls the BF jeans look like you do, please briefly share tips on how one can dress it up and down?
A: I would just say if it works wear it with confidence, the smile on your face does add a twinkle on your ensemble :-). Anything goes with the right pair of heels, make sure in your fashion journey you partner with a mirror ;-) . LOL! I have one big one in my room and hey it won’t lie.
I pair them with girly tops, accessories, killer heels BF Jeans are very versatile – that slouchy comfy look uhhhhh!! the rest is history.
Crop top + Boyfriend jean + and an ankle strap heel :-) or cuff heels.
Q: I love the way you go a bit sporty at times but remain chic, do you only do that on weekends?
A: My work requires one to be professional and presentable; so I mostly lay my hair down on Fridays and weekends.
Q: Do you have kitten heels?
A: Yup! I do own a few; I am very short though, you will usually catch me in heels. I am not sure but when I am wearing kitten heels I feel a bit stumpy LOL!! And my curves make it worse :-) so I get that elevated, toned legs when wearing my 4-7 Inch heels. :-)
Q: What are the two items that you wouldn’t be caught dead in?
A: I can’t pin point, as anything looks sexy, your normal overall look paired and well put together can give you that 1st Lady look. Even wearing a bag can look sexy, get me that black trash bag, and meet me later for sun downers in my bag :-)
Q: I know Kim K is your style icon & you have the same physic as her, what do you think of her style now that she’s with Kanye? Some people say he changed her.
A: It depends on how you look at things, Yes before she was more of Cleave-land sexy hugging bandage dress kinda chic, Show what your momma gave ya, type. Now she is seen in comfy numbers, change in colour palette. I look at it as a wifey and mommy to be; attached something s gotta give.
She took a serious risk for hubby, it’s LOVE!
We all do, I personally recently got engaged to my handsome hubby, ohh!! :-) Goose bumps moment (just thinking of him). So when I dress, I need to make sure my hubby is comfortable and happy with my look; remember I represent him. Now it’s all about them (Kim & Kanye), not her :-) us not me, we have to complement each other.
Dlala no muntu wakho :-) Its Fun try it :-)
Q: Pink and Red lipsticks are your signature lip colours & they suit you very well. Which lipstick colours should dark skinned women stay away from?
A: Mirror! Mirror! On the wall which colour suits me the most?
Match your lips with your skin tone; be patient try different shades, red/pink/orange colour palettes can look good with the right shade. Well lined lips, just make sure you don’t encircle your lips which will end up looking like a tattoo. Use your finger to blend in your lipstick.
Q: If you were to raid Kim K’s closet what 3 items would you take besides shoes?
A: Ummmmh, I can’t say much, I am very content and thankful with what I have. God has been great and good to me, he is amazing; maybe her bank card….. LOL!!
Q: If your house was on fire what are the 2 things that you would take from your closet?
A: I can’t say my shoes, will need about a truck, ample time :-) I can’t say bags SHUUU!! I am not sure as I love all of them. I can’t really make up my mind. We travel allot with hubby and you should see my luggage, Pack lite “FOR WHAT ??”
Q: You’re always on point; it should be crime to always look this gorgeous in whatever that you wear. Do you prefer Dresses or Pants & why?
A: Ok I love my dresses, as I am one of those gifted *hides* and very curvaceous lady. I get to flaunt my legs but I have gained a bit of weight (happiness weight, LOL! thanks to my partner in crime, Hubby dearest) so I now feel very comfortable in pants, leggings my worddddd call me anytime.
I buy from MRP I love that they keep up with trends, Forever New, Cotton On, Zara, Jet, anywhere. It’s not about the price tag, although I don’t mind splurging on a good trendy pair. That’s me!!
Q: For everyone that wants to keep up with you, where can they find you?
A: So I go by ‘Laodyy’ on INSTAGRAM
@Laoddy on TWITTER
‘Laodecia Motlakwe’ on FACEBOOK
I am new on TUMBLR ‘Laodyy’, but I will get there :-)
